ÇARŞI MOSQUE
Located in Kemeraltı location in Çarşı Neighourhood, Çarşı Mosque was built in 1839 (1225 acc. to the Islamic Calendar) by Hazinedarzade Osman Pasha who served as a governor for a long time in Trabzon. Since the mosque was built on a sloping area, the place which remains under its last public hall on the northern side is reserved for shops. Çarşı Mosque is one of the biggest mosques in the city, is attractive for its stone works carved neatly. It is covered with a lead roof.

THE FORTRESS OF TRABZON
Most of the ramparts that are among the city’s oldest structures are still standing today. The oldest ones of these date back to the Roman Period, 4th century BC. Xenophon who visited the city in the 4th century BC mentions about the ramparts in his book. The ramparts in Trabzon can be divided into three parts which are Yukarı Hisar (İçkale), Orta and Aşağı Hisar.
KUŞTUL MONASTERY
Known as Peristera, this Monastery was built nearby the Şimşirli village in Maçka district in the middle of the 8th century. Only the base of the church has survived to the present.
ÇAKIRGÖL PLATEAU
With a distance of 13 km from Maçka-Meryemana road (leading to Sumela Monastery) and 2504 meters from the seaside, the plateau is surrounded by various plateaus such as Armutluk, Kırantaş, Akarsu, Livayda, Kurugöl, Mesaraş, Furnoba, Kasapoğlu, Camiboğazı, Ortaoba and Dereboyu.
THE MUSEUM OF TRABZON
The mansion which today serves as the Museum of Trabzon was constructed by the money broker Kostaki Teophylaktos around 1898-1918 in the early 1900s.
THE LIVING CORE OF TRABZON: ORTAHISAR NEIGHBORHOOD
There are plenty of historical artifacts in a narrow area in Ortahisar neighborhood. The oldest one among these artifacts is Altinbasli Meryemana Church (Panaghia Khrysokephalos Virgin Church) dated 914. It was converted to a mosque and started to be known as Fatih or Ortahisar Mosque. Mehmet Sultan, the Conquerer has performed his first Friday prayer here. The residence opposite to this mosque is the house where Suleiman the Magnificent lived. The house serves as a museum today.
