SİSDAĞI PLATEAU
Sis Mountain is the highest mountain in the region close to the beach. Its distance is about 85 kilometers from the city center of Trabzon and 38 kilometers from the coast of Beşikdüzü. The shortest and most convenient access road is the path through to Geyikli Town in the direction of Şalpazarı- Acısu. The vehicle density should be taken into account in day of the festival. The highest place of Sis Mountain is the Evliya Hill with 2182 meters of altitude. At this height, watching the view, sun rise and sunset is really a very special passion and privilege. Kireçhane, Üvezli Area Pine Groves, Hanyanı Plains, Kalpakkaya, Sandık(Crate) Lake and waterfalls are natural walking and jogging paths among the pine trees. The special features of Sis Mountain are the smell of the pines, the incredible view of the sky, the flavor of braised meat and icy water that can crack a watermelon.
Thousands of people involves in the traditional "Otcu / Kaynak Sis" festivities on the fourth Saturday of July every year. People create a circle around drums - flutes –fiddle, join hands and dance horon. The horon shows friendship, brotherhood and peace.
The name of Sis Mountain gets its name from being foggy in piedmont and the top of the mountain. Sometimes when the top part is sunny, the piedmont is foggy and it looks like you are in an island, surrounded by a vast sea of fog.
