THE LAKE THAT WAS WITNESSED AS IT WAS FORMED: SERALake Sera is one of the touristic values of Akcaabat. It is between Trabzon and Akcaabat, 10 km in distance to Trabzon, within Yıldızlı town's borders. Its length is 4km, width is 150m in average and its deepest area is 55m. Flowing to the sea, Sera Brook was formed as a result of landslide of valley to the sea, blocking the front. The interesting part is; it appeared in front of the town's people in a few days.
Starting on Tuesday morning in February 21, 1950 between 8.00 and 8.30 am with a roar, landslip caused quite severe local earthquake by slipping from the left side of the Sera valley and the rubbish formed a set about 650m in length and 350m in width, with 65 m in height. There are accumulated waters after this set, reaching 3 meters in 24 hours and widening about 100-200 meters every day, covered the area. After 18 days from landslip, Sera Creek waters, reached to top and started outlet, continued to flow.
Lake and its surrounding have a scene worth seeing for. That's why it is visited by local and foreign tourists. Lake and the surrounding, also, is used as a picnic space by the locals and residents of Trabzon.
