THE SYMBOL OF CLEANLINESS CULTURE IN TRABZON: PASHA BATH
It was built in the south of Carsi Mosque in the form of a double Turkish bath. Its name is mentioned among the foundations of Iskender Pasha. It is thought to be built between the years 1521-1533. As the double Turkish bath implies, it has two sepeate sections for men and women. Men section is covered with an octagonal roof supported by pillars.
GULBAHARHATUN MOSQUE AND MAUSOLEUM
In the memory of Gülbahar Hatun, mother of Sultan Selim the Grim, it was constructed within a külliye near the Zağnos Bridge on the west of Orta Hisar.
HIDIRNEBİ PLATEAU
Hıdırnebi was established on the hill which is behind the Hıdırnebi Stone. Today, Hıdırnebi Plateau can be reached by a 45minute trip from Trabzon's center and half an hour from Akcaabat's center. Located on the 1450-1500m altitude, it is one of the most important holiday resorts and stopovers of the Black Sea Region. It is asked and preferred with its natural beauty and Yayla Kent facilities that were made in 1998 and have a transmitter on the west.
SUMELA MONASTERY
Sumela Monastery, within the borders of Altındere Village of Maçka District, was built on steep rock cliffs at the skirts of Karadağ Mountain which overlooks the Altındere Valley. Among the populace it is known as Virgin Mary Monastery. The location of the monastery proves the tradition that the monasteries were generally built outside the city, in forests, and nearby the waterside and caves.
A JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: CAL CAVE
Cal Cave is recognized as the second longest cave of the world. A small stream flows through the cave. There is a historical castle over the cave.
AHİ EVREN DEDE MOSQUE AND MAUSOLEUM
The construction date of Ahi Evren Dede Mosque, which is located in Boztepe Neighbourhood overlooking Trabzon, is not known. On the other hand, according to historic records a dervish lodge was built on the site of today’s mosque and tomb by Ahi Evren during the rule of Sultan Orhan, but there is not certain information about this lodge complex. Later Ahi Evren Dede Mosque was built on this site. It survived to the present since it was repaired by the efforts of Hacı Hakkı Baba.
