A PAVILION WHERE ATATURK GAVE AWAY HIS ASSETS TO THE NATION
Constructed as a summer residence by Konstantin Kabayanidis in the early 19th century, the pavilion lies on the ridge of Soğuksu which overlooks Trabzon. The building reflects the influence of European and West Renaissance Architecture, and large and splendid European symbols were used for decorative purposes. Stonework was used on the exterior side and interior part is made of bricks; however, stairs are wooden, and have ban isters.
GULBAHARHATUN MOSQUE AND MAUSOLEUM
In the memory of Gülbahar Hatun, mother of Sultan Selim the Grim, it was constructed within a külliye near the Zağnos Bridge on the west of Orta Hisar.
THE PLATEAU OF SPIRIT: HACKA NOMAD CAMPING SITE
Hackali Baba Tomb located in Duzkoy (Hacka Nomad Camping Site) having an elevation of 1784 m. has been attracting visitors. Hackali Hodja is also renowned as Kus Mustafa but his actual name is Mustafa Tarhan. He died in 1949. His followers built a mosque including the tomb. Kadirga Festival is held every year on the third Friday of July in addition to Karaabdal Festival held every year on August 14.
ERDOĞDU BEY MOSQUE
Built by Erdoğdu Bey, the governor of Trabzon in 1577, the mosque stands in the neighbourhood named as Erdoğdu Bey.
HARMANTEPE PLATEAU
Harmantepe plateau lies within the borders of Yeşilyurt location, which located in Köprübaşı district. This plateau is home to the military trenches from the World War I and Martyrs’ cemeteries, and is a worth seeing spot. A commemoration ceremony is held on June 29 every year.
SANTA MARIA CHURCH
Located in the Kemerkaya Neighbourhood, the church was built for the foreign citizens around 1869 and 1874 upon the order of Sultan Abdülmecit.
THE MYSTERY OF DETAILS: HAGIA SOPHIA
Trabzon Ayasofya Church which serves as a museum today was constructed in the time of Manuel Comnenos I (1238-1263), one of the kings of Trabzon Empire. The bell tower to the west of the church was dated back to 1427 by the British traveller and researcher G. Finlay. On the west of the church are the remains of a chapel with three apses which is supposed to have belonged to an earlier period.
